DALLAS DINNER TABLE SCHEDULED TO COINCIDE ON MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. HOLIDAY 2007
Event is designed to improve race relations in Dallas

Immediate Release…. Dallas, TX Following the success of the 2006 Dallas Dinner Table, the program will once again coincide with Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on January 21, 2008 at 6p.m.

An unprecedented number of people signed up to participate in the 2006 Dallas Dinner Table event that was held on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. More than 750 people participated in the dinners, which are designed to bring citizens from various backgrounds together to share diverse perspectives about the impact of race in their daily lives.

“The Martin Luther King holiday is a perfect time for the Dallas community to come together and talk about how much closer we are to achieving Dr. King’s dream,” said Beverley Wright, chair of the Dallas Dinner Table. “I think all of us want to live in a nation where we are judged by the content of our character, rather than the color of our skin.”

The 2008 event is targeted to have more than 100 dinners taking place throughout the area beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008.

“Our goal is to have 1000 people participate in the dinners,” said Ms. Wright, chair of the Dallas Dinner Table. “The fact that we have this number of people participating in an event to discuss race relations makes a statement about how people in Dallas want to get together to develop a better understanding of these sensitive issues.”

Dinners involving eight to twelve people will be held simultaneously throughout the area in private homes, churches and restaurants, hosted by citizens who will provide an evening meal to participants from diverse backgrounds. A trained facilitator will guide each dinner discussion.

Dallas Dinner Table will actively work with several civic and community organizations to recruit potential participants in the program. Deadline for participants to register is January 13, 2008. Anyone interested in being a part of the discussions can sign up at www.dallasdinnertable.com.

The Dallas Dinner Table is a non-profit organization that brings people together from various cultural backgrounds to dispel racial barriers and encourage cross-cultural communication, one dinner at a time. The Dallas Dinner Table was originally an initiative of Leadership Dallas Alumni. It is attracting interest from other cities across the country, including Milwaukee, Boston, Denver and Tampa, Florida.

The Dallas Dinner Table is partnered with the Greater Dallas Community of Churches and other worthwhile organizations.
